V. Mac and Peggy Baldwin, their son Craig and grandsons Scott, Patrick, and Stephen manage and breed over 200 head of registered Charolais cattle near Yanceyville, North Carolina. They also graze and feed several hundred commercial stocker cattle each year. In addition, they are poultry growers producing over 4 million hatching eggs each year for Allen Hatcheries in Seaford, Delaware. The Baldwin program is designed to produce high quality, genetically packed Charolais cattle that grow and excel in the real world of grass and motheršs milk. Their operation is headquartered on 500 acres on the northern border of North Carolina, 20 miles south of Danville, VA. Their cows are mostly polled, moderate framed, easy handling, easy keeping, with high maternal values. They have been breeding Charolais Cattle for over 28 years. The herd was built through Artificial Insemination (AI) drawing from the top Charolais breeders and bloodlines in the nation. The farm operates with a high quality winter/summer grazing program of Fescue, Rye-Ryegrass-Clover and Red River Crabgrass.
The Baldwin breeding program is based on selecting AI Sires with the following strengths:

The Baldwins owe a great deal of gratitude to Dr. Harlan Rogers, Rogers Bar
HR Charolais, Collins, MS, who first challenged them to implement winter
grazing. Also, Dr. R. L. Dalrymple, Forage Research Specialist with the
NOBLE Foundation, Ardmore, OK,
has given them invaluable advice and
support. Also, Mr. Harold Bowman, Bowman Farms Systems, Cynthiana, KY, has
given the Baldwins great assistance in establishing their computerized
cattle records and building an electronic office for the 21st century.
